About Pokhara

Pokhara is a beautiful city on Phewa Lake and on the foothills of Machhapuchhre ("fishtail") mountain of north central Nepal. It is a gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, a popular trail in the Himalayas and a major tourist destination for visitors from all over the world. Apart from site-seeing of the beautiful mountains and lakes, Pokhara offers many things to do such as: trekking, boating, canoeing, rafting, paragliding, ziplining, and aeriel sightseeing from ultralight aircraft.

Pokhara is located about 200 km (120 miles) west of the capital city Kathmandu in Nepal. Kathmandu is accessible by international flights and getting to Pokhara requires a 30-minute local flight (or a 6 hour bus ride) from Kathmandu. International flights to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu from Europe, the Americas and Australasia may involve a stop or two in the Middle East or Asia. Many local airlines fly each day (usually before 2:30 pm) from the domestic terminal of Tribuvan International Airport to Pokhara Airport.
